From The Thirties to the Fifties

Although the original business was set up in 1926, by W.L.Prest Senior, and his wife, from their Upwell Road home, the 1930-1950 era saw some big names and big changes!

Apart from House Sales and Lettings, we also:
Acted as agents for:

  • The Halifax Building Society
  • Various insurance companies

Were Secretaries:

  • Secretary of the Station Mart
  • Part-time secretary of Northallerton National Farmers Union

Were listed as Part-time Registrars of Births, Deaths and Marriages

In 1932 the business moved to its current premises at 65 High Street Northallerton which, from this date, has acted as both the company's office and family home.

In 1946 W.L. Prest, Jnr joined us and helped to gradually expand the business.

.

From The Sixties to the Nineties

In 1963, straight from leaving school, John Prest joined the firm and became a partner in 1971. John led the business through a changed of focus over the ensuing years, with a greater emphasis being placed on: House Sales, Residential Lettings and Financial Services.

In 1996, John and his late wife, Sue, took back the business from the General Accident Company and concentrated on expanding its already strong reputation in the residential lettings market.

.

From The New Millenium to the Present Day

By being able to concentrate solely on residential lettings, John and Sue built up the business from a relatively small portfolio number to one that now has well over 400 properties.

The business is built upon the excellent family name and reputation that has been built over almost 100 years.

Following family tradition, John's son Mark joined the business in 1999.  Mark, as with those who preceded him, brought fresh ideas to the business and remains dedicated to future growth and success, whilst also maintaining the strong family reputation for providing superb customer service.
